1 C. water
2 TBS. butter, softened
1 egg
1/4 C. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. each: dried basil, oregano, thyme & rosemary
3 1/4 C. flour
2 1/4 tsp. active dry yeast
melted butter (optional, but recommended)
salt (optional, but recommended)
Place ingredients in bread machine pan in order given. Use the dough cycle. When cycle is finished, turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Divide in 16 portions and shape each into a ball. Place them 2" apart on greased baking sheets.
Cover and let rise about 30 minutes.
Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
If desired, brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle with salt.
Note: If you do not have a bread machine, I have also made this dough in my Bosch (using a dough hook), and the rolls came out just the same. Just make sure to let your machine mix the dough for at least 10 minutes, and let the dough rise for about 40-60 minutes before shaping. I haven't tried making them by kneading the dough myself, but if you don't have access to a machine that will mix dough for you, give it a try and let me know how it goes!

These look delicious and easy. What is the yield on these?
Hi Shalyce!
One batch will make 16 rolls.
Okay - so when I made the rolls and read the recipe a little closer, I saw the 16 part... Sorry! Made these in my kitchen aid and they turned out delicious. I want to try them without the herbs next time - the dough seemed nice and sweet.
Hi Shalyce!
I actually have made these before without the herbs, and they turn out great that way too! I just increase the sugar to 1/3 C.
I made these tonight for our dinner. LOVED them! Super easy and so yummy!
I made these last night and my kids inhaled them! They were really yummy! Thanks Shelley! We are trying out your French Dip sandwiches tonight. I am sure they are going to be delicious ... the house smells so yummy!
