Pizza Dough

My cousin Shanna is a WONDERFUL cook and sent me this recipe to try out, along with a picture to post. I actually make homemade pizza often, so I really enjoyed trying out this pizza dough recipe! It turned out GREAT! I made one pizza and some breadsticks. The breadsticks really turned out awesome! I will most definitely be using this recipe again. We LOVED it!

Yield: enough for 2 Large pizzas or 1 pizza and some breadsticks

2 cups warm water
1 Tbsp. yeast
3 Tbsp. sugar
1/4 cup oil
2 tsp. salt
5 cups flour

In a mixing bowl, add the water, yeast and sugar. Stir and let sit until the yeast is bubbly and foamy on top of the water. Add the oil, salt and flour. Mix with dough hook and let knead for a while (4-5 minutes). This will get the dough nice and smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise in a warm place about 1 hour.

Roll out and put on greased pizza pan. Top with sauce, cheese and toppings. Bake @ 425 or 450 for 10-12 minutes.

*for wheat pizza change the yeast to 1 1/2 Tbps.
Do only 1/2 whole wheat flour and 1/2 white flour.

Let the crust rise a little after you roll it out so it is not too stiff when you bake it.

Bread sticks: use ½ dough, roll out on counter, cut into strips with pizza cutter, put on sprayed cookie sheet, let rise for 20-30 minutes, cook for 10 minutes, butter, sprinkle with garlic salt, parmesan cheese, etc. If making cinnamon sugar sticks use more butter.

Thanks Shanna B!
